The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Form IRP-1POA is a specialized power of attorney document used specifically for International Registration Plan (IRP) transactions. It allows a motor carrier (the principal) to appoint an agent to act as their authorized representative for providing and receiving IRP information and performing all necessary acts related to New York State IRP registration. This form is required for business entities or individuals who need a third party to manage their interstate commercial vehicle registrations through the International Registration Bureau (IRB).

The form requires detailed information from both the principal and the agent, including names, business addresses, and contact details. It must be signed by both parties and notarized to be legally valid. For business organizations acting as agents, an additional notarized letter on company letterhead must be attached to identify the specific individuals authorized to sign. The POA must be submitted to the IRB annually during the renewal process or whenever there are changes to the authorized representation. It remains in effect until revoked in writing by the principal.
